FAQ

FAQs

A gypsum ceiling tile is normally laid into an exposed suspended grid and can be lifted to access the ceiling void. Gypsum board is screw-fixed to a supporting frame and, after joint treatment, forms a continuous wall or ceiling surface.

Recommended Applications

  • Exposed-grid suspended ceilings in residential, office, commercial and service interiors
  • Ceiling systems where periodic access to services above the ceiling is required
  • Ceiling refurbishment and renovation using a compatible, accurately levelled grid system
  • Interior spaces requiring a neat, white, factory-finished modular ceiling
  • Modular suspended ceiling systems, subject to matching the tile dimensions to the supporting grid

Key Benefits and Properties

  • Factory-finished laminated surface, ready for installation without full on-site plaster finishing
  • Clean, uniform appearance for exposed-grid ceiling designs
  • Individual tiles can be lifted and replaced to provide access to cables and services above the ceiling
  • Fast, dry installation in a compatible suspended ceiling grid
  • Damaged tiles can be replaced individually without dismantling the entire ceiling

Installation Guidelines

  1. Select a ceiling grid of the correct type and load capacity for the tile dimensions, tile weight and project requirements.
  2. Install hangers, main runners and cross tees in accordance with the approved drawings and the ceiling-system manufacturer's instructions, ensuring that the grid is accurately levelled.
  3. Before installation, inspect the tiles for sound edges, consistent appearance and dimensional compatibility with the grid.
  4. Handle the tiles with clean hands and place them gently into the grid without bending or forcing them.
  5. Make perimeter cuts and openings for lights or diffusers with suitable tools, and provide proper support to all cut edges.
  6. Lights, diffusers, mechanical equipment and any other additional loads must have independent support. Their weight must not be carried directly by the tile.

Limitations and Non-Recommended Uses

  • Not suitable for external facades, open-air locations or areas subject to continuous direct contact with water.
  • In high-humidity areas, use only where the specific tile, facing, edges and complete ceiling system have been confirmed as suitable for those conditions.
  • The tile is non-load-bearing and must not support lights, ductwork, cables or other equipment.
  • Do not install tiles that are wet, warped, cracked or damaged at the edges.
  • Fire, acoustic and moisture performance must be assessed using the technical data for the product and the complete ceiling assembly. A similar appearance does not demonstrate equivalent performance.

Packaging, Storage and Handling

  • Tiles are supplied in protective packaging appropriate to the order requirements.
  • Store packs flat on a level, dry surface and protect them from moisture, rain and direct sunlight.
  • Do not apply concentrated loads, stand on the packs or stack them in an unstable manner.
  • Protect the edges during handling and prevent impact, bending or dragging tiles across one another.

Safety

Cutting or drilling may generate gypsum dust. Wear safety goggles, suitable respiratory protection and gloves, and provide adequate ventilation. Use sound tools and cut on a stable surface. Grid installation and work at height must be carried out by trained personnel using appropriate safety equipment. Refer to the product SDS and project safety instructions for definitive guidance.
